1. Another black man killed by St. Louis police

Another black man was killed by St. Louis police this week: 25-year-old Kajieme Powell.

Powell was suspected of shoplifting two energy drinks from a mini-mart and the shop owner called the police when he thought Powell might be carrying a knife.

They shot him. They shot him 12 times. And then they handcuffed his dead body.

Sorry, weren’t we just talking about police brutality?

  4. If you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you.

Yes, you read that right. LAPD officer Sunil Dutta says that simply challenging him (or another police officer) can get you shot.

How many other officers think this way? Does this mindset explain why Mike Brown and so many other unarmed black men have been shot by police?

  5. The execution of American journalist James Foley by ISIS terrorists has shocked the world. Who was James Foley? Why did ISIS kill him? Should we be afraid? You have questions. Alison Maney has answers.

  6. The FBI has a master file of everyone with a criminal record in America—and there are 77.7 million people in it. That’s 1 in every 3 adult Americans. Apparently, about half of those files don’t have “final dispositions”—that means the charges against those people might have been dropped, but they still have a criminal record.

  8. Are you hesitant to label yourself a feminist? Joseph Gordon-Levitt isn’t. Here’s why:
"What [feminism] means to me is that you don’t let your gender define who you are—you can be who you want to be, whether you’re a man, a woman, a boy, a girl, whatever. However you want to define yourself, you can do that and should be able to do that, and no category ever really describes a person because every person is unique. That, to me, is what ‘feminism’ means. So yes, I’d absolutely call myself a feminist.”
